This report was prepared by a team led by Marcus Wijnen (TWIWA), with a core team composed of Benedicte Augeard (TWIWA), Bradley Hiller (TWIWA), Chris Ward (consultant) and Patrick Huntjens (consultant). Alvar Closas (TWIWA) prepared case study material on groundwater management and governance in Spain. Julia Bucknall (Sector Manager, TWIWA) provided overall guidance to the project. This report drew on significant work conducted previously by a team led by Rafik Hirji (AFTWR), and composed of Richard Davis (consultant), Doreen Kirabo (consultant), Albert Tuinhoff (consultant) and Bob Livernash (consultant). Abel Mejia (former Sector Manager, ETWWA) provided support to that work. The five national case study reports formed a foundation for this report and were prepared by several teams. Hector Garduño, Saleem Romani, Babu Sengupta, and Albert Tuinhof prepared the India case study; Albert Mumma, Mike Lane, Edward Kairu, Albert Tuinhoff and Rafik Hirji prepared the Kenya case study; El Haiba Mustapha, Hector Garduño and Albert Tuinhof prepared the Morocco case study; Kevin Pietersen, Hans E. Beekman, M. Holland and Shafick Adams prepared the South Africa case study; and Rubhera Mato, Mark Mujwahuzi, Albert Tuinhof and Rafik Hirji prepared the Tanzania case study. Draft case study reports for Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa were reviewed by the respective stakeholders of those nations at the national stakeholder workshops and consultations held in Nairobi in September 2010, Dar es Salaam in October 2010 and Pretoria in December 2010. Over 120 stakeholders participated in the consultation and review process from Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.
